16th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards

Managed to survive another amazing Cammies for another year with the Kakiseni team.

I’ve always imagined that the #BOHCammies is such an exciting, exclusively for those amazing people, awards ceremony that I always love to be part of. Whether it’s ushering people, registring (hehe) them in, or even jaga console – I love being part of the production of this event.

Last night, I fell in love once again with the performing arts industry because the people who came to celebrate with us, came with so much love for the work that they have done.

Thank you for having faith and celebrating the industry with us. Thank you to also A Cut Above Group, Mag Lifestyle Officeial and M.A.C. Cosmetics for my entire look, hair and dress for the night.

But most of all, thank you to our #16BCAA team. So much love, I can’t imagine a world different than this.

Fear

Our entire life is driven by fear, we live fearing something every second of our lives.

And in fear, we can’t even enjoy the process.

We fear God so much that we are not able to enjoy the way of life that God has provided for us.

We fear bosses and clients so much we are not able to understand the importance and beauty of our work contributions.

We fear people’s judgment on us so much that we couldn’t even appreciate our beauty and strength.

We fear. We fear. We fear.

We can’t even love because we fear too much.

I guess fear is okay but our lives should not be guided by it.

I know I bullshit a lot and one of my biggest fear is people hating me and find me a burden to be around with. It’s hard to own my strength because I had to live up to people’s expectations and demands. There are times, I beat myself so bad that I wish I would die so everyone would be so much happier without my existence.

Sometimes it is so hard for me to seek help because I am afraid to burden people because their time is so exclusive and precious and I should not disturb that.

I am learning to not fear. Teach me a way to accept myself and be more brave.

Eudaimonia by Nawwar Shukriah Ali a.k.a Bono Stellar

About dreams by Bono

my house
is
huge

there’s always room for you

will you come with me?

no, she said
I belong in your world no longer.

i awaken from my dream

she’s gone.

I only see her in my dreams
there is a lingering emptiness in my voice

but i always have her in my everyday.

Congratulations to Nawwar Shukriah Ali for your first solo exhibition ‘Eudaimonia’ at Zhan Art MY! You really are a colourful rockstar who is true to her soul at her core.

Nice to see familiar faces and catching up with them, also didn’t know that my brother, Muid Latif was officiating and introducing Bono.

Please go to Zhan Art MY at The School (Level G) in Jaya One because the exhibition opens on 6th April until 20th April 2019.

I don’t want to talk about her works because you need to go these and see it for yourself!

And sorry couldn’t stay long because was really worn out from starting the day at 7:00am but definitely will dropby to enjoy it more!

La Biennale di Venezia

Today I met Lim Wei-Ling who was friendly enough to say hi to me and chatted with me at the announcement of Malaysia’s inaugural participation at the 58th Venice Biennale or La Biennale di Venezia. It’s Malaysia’s first ever participation in the mother of art biennales and the olympics of contemporary art spearheaded by Wei Ling Gallery and endorsed by the National Art Gallery. While it’s nice to see that the Malaysian art scene has been elevated to the next level where our artists now will have a new added ambition – for their works to be featured in Venice at our own Malaysian Pavilion alongside other 91 participating countries; it is also nice to chat up with people who you can feel their genuine sincerity or keikhlasan in breaking the barrier for our Malaysian artists to have more chances in the eyes of the world.

Let art be one of the most warm and inclusive platforms for us to bridge connections and break stigmas of egoistic and self-indulged efforts. Thank you Wei Ling Gallery for the invitation and congratulations again to Anurendra Jegadeva, H H Lim, Ivan Lam and Zulkifli Yusof!
